Last week saw the release of Salomons eagerly awaited Guardian 16 binding in Alta, Utah.  Salomons mission was to create a back country binding to rival that of competitors, namely the Marker Duke.

The Guardian 16 aimed to match the downhill performance of the popular STH whilst combining a solid touring capability, the Guardian boasts an innovative ski/hike switch provding you with the ability to switch between the two modes with the flick of a pole and the click of a heel.

The oversize binding platform creates a stable binding with strong hold, whilst the 7-16 din will be more than up to the task.  Although not the lightest touring binding on the market, some dynafit fans might complain, however its downhill performance makes up for the slightly porky binding.

All in all salomon seem to be on to a winner with this addition to their growing back country range.
